Its very common to send links in emails. A typical case would be, that you meet somebody at an event and you talk about your product and service. You'll get his business card. After the event, you'll send him an email with a link back to your website (e.g. domain.com). Since you send the email to just one person, you can send hem a "tracking link", a special link that will enable OpenInbound to recognize the contact and track all his upcoming interactions with website.
So, when you send an email to clients in gmail, outlook or any other mail client you need to prepare your links. See the different options below.
In the screenshot you see a typical email. To make the link trackable, just add ?email@example.com after the link (replace firstname.lastname@example.org with your contacts email address) . Make sure you only add it to the web address.
That's it. As soon as your contact will click on the link, you'll see the contact showing up in your OpenInbound dashboard.
When you send out mails with MailChimp, you can spice up every link to make the contact visible for OpenInbound. As shown in the screenshot, you need to prepare every link by adding www.domain.com?oi_email=*|EMAIL|*.
That's it. As soon as you send your mails are sent and people click on the link, you'll see the contact showing up in your OpenInbound dashboard.
